Elanor stared in shock at the frozen crowd in front of her. Hands that were still outstretched to ward off the physical attacks that had been coming, trembled. They had all accused of her such powers, but none had manifested until now. Elanor sat and stared at her hands – calloused from hard work there was nothing soft about these hands. The one bit of frivolity she allowed herself was her mother’s ring, a sparkling blue stone atop a simple silver band. The ring was cold, she realised. Could it have been her mother’s ring that did this? Or was it simply a conduit? Perhaps it was time to find out.
